I don't get much of an orange peel scent from this, mostly pumpkin, vanilla, and spices. It's quite heavy on the spices to the point it makes my nose tingle if I burn it too long while sitting close to it. It's the perfect mixture of spice to balance out the sweet, it doesn't smell too artificial or dessert-like. It is rare for me to like an autumn or gourmand scented candle this much. This scent is also labelled as Harvest Pumpkin, Pumpkin Delight, and I think a few others. Unfortunately, I believe it is discontinued along with all other candles from this brand, but you can find it at most department stores!

I only own these as wax melts, but I'll hopefully get a full candle once Valentine's rolls back around. This is one of my favourite gourmand scents ever!! It sort of smells like strawberry white chocolate to me, while it does have a baked goods undertone (the fragrance is listed as "strawberry shortcake") it's a bit more sweet than the saltier undertone you might normally get with pastry scents. Tuscany has a really good Valentine's collection and all of them smell like actual desserts.

I truly, genuinely could not tell you why I bought this candle. I spent probably about 40 minutes in Homegoods sniffing every single candle to find the perfect one and this is what I came home with. It has an interesting, floral citrus woody cologne scent, and for maybe the first five hours or so of burntime I was able to delude myself into thinking it was a delightful aquatic scent. I took a break from burning it to try a different candle, and now the smell of it genuinely nauseates me. It really does smell like cologne to the point that I don't think this scent should have ever been placed into a candle and instead confined to reed diffusers and spray colognes. It is so pungent that I have had to exile it to the living room from my bedroom. Two stars for not have a Completely unforgivable scent and for also having a really beautiful vessel.

This candle undoubtedly smells like men's cologne. However, I like the smell of men's cologne. It really does have a smokey, firewood twang to it that adds warmth and depth to it, along with some sort of ozone afterscent that makes you feel like you're at a bonfire at night. This is an excellent candle to burn and fill the room with and just bask in its scent, perfect for the cold months. Tuscany Candle sells three "masculine" scented candles in this collection and this is by far the best one-- the other two I have not burned but their cold throws at the store are near nauseating. Three stars because it's not as complex as it could be and definitely cologne-esque, but this will definitely be a rare repeat buy for me.

If you like strong florals, this is an excellent candle for you. If you don't like strong florals (like me) it's still pretty tolerable? It's a pretty strong, solid single-note lilac scent and I would hesitate to use words like "soft" or "delicate" to describe it, but it doesn't smell too cloying or artificial. If you need your entire house to smell fresh and clean as quickly as possible, this is the candle to burn. My roommate owns this candle and has been buying it on repeat for years, and it's also a recurring seasonal scent of B&BW, so it is definitely loved by many.

This is SUCH a nice vanilla scent, definitely my favourite of all the hundreds of vanilla bean candles out there. The scent is the perfect intensity and it has a robust, warm smell that isn't too nauseatingly sweet but smells delicious. It reminds me of vanilla eggnog or horchata or bougie cinnamon-covered pastries as opposed to more sugary comparisons like ice cream or buttercream. The vodka and spice notes complement the primary vanilla bean note perfectly.

I normally hate burning candles in bathrooms due to fire concerns and smells becoming overwhelming in small enclosed spaces, but this is The candle to burn while you're taking a shower. Cold throw is like catching a whiff of an expensive delicate European lemonade and hot throw is like being at a spa. It's listed as having citrusy and woodsy notes but these are undetectable-- it's pure florals, though the rose thankfully doesn't overwhelm the overall scent. The vessel is also really nice-- it's hard to tell in online photos but the glass is unusually thick and it gives it an artisan feel along with the nice lavender colour. I will definitely be reusing it for something else after I've finished with it.

It is not surprising that this candle was discontinued by Target and I was able to buy a 20 oz candle for $5. It is however, surprising that I am bothering to review and add this candle to the site despite this. It's wild how little scent is contained in a huge 20 oz jar. The cold throw is so incredibly faint, and the hot throw is similarly faint unless you burn it for far beyond the recommended timeframe, at which point it begins to build a mildly nauseating cloud of artificial tea, which vanishes almost immediately after putting it out. The scent itself is nothing to write home about, but it isn't initially unpleasant, smelling definitely Green Leaf Scented of some variety but not quite natural. I could find almost no information on the notes for this candle, and I'm pretty sure it's probably just a single note candle. I think this candle (and similar green leaf notes) might be nice to burn in a kitchen to cover up foul odours, and this may be the only suitable location for it, as it has a basically net zero effect when burned in large open spaces like living rooms and makes one feel slightly sick when burned in small enclosed areas.

This candle is sadly discontinued, reaching the same fate as most Target candles. It has really beautiful packaging (an iridescent blue jar with nice lettering) that does not seem to match up with the scent at all. Nor does the name seem to match up with the scent that well. It's a mild, soft and slightly sweet orange amber scent that takes a while to build up in the air after burning. It does have a little bit of that tell-tale artificial Target tang to it, but I am also just particularly sensitive when it comes to natural fragrances. I don't feel like the oud comes out that well. I got it in October and it made for a nice fresh scent during the colder months without feeling too citrusy or tropical. I burned it in my living room mostly which was a mistake, as it doesn't have a super strong hot throw.

Moonlight Path is a pretty old B&B scent, being released in 2007 and still continually sold. I thrifted an older candle of this and I will say that I have seen some sources online that say the newer scent is slightly different, but others don't seem to think it has changed. I usually dislike B&B candles and heavy florals, but this candle is absolutely wonderful and sits perfectly on the line between being too faint and too overwhelming (though this might be different in perfume/spray form or in newer candles). It has an old-school, soft powdery floral scent, like an older woman's perfume. I've always thought that it smells exactly like my grandmother's English garden cottage!

This is a great candle if you have a sentimental attachment to the smell of the original Little Trees car air fresheners or you want to cover up strong smells in your home. Otherwise I would not recommend it, it is heavily artificial smelling and basically none of the other notes it contains are distinguishable from the sheer overwhelming pine.

I love this candle so bad you have no idea. I've been buying it consistently for probably six years at this point? It's one of the most calming scents I've ever smelled and instantly puts me in a better mood when I burn it. I associate it with my boyfriend for some reason even though he smells nothing like this? I've seen others online say that the notes don't seem to full match up with what it actually smells like (and I agree). To me this candle sort of smells like cashmere or soft fabric in candle form (need to compare this candle's scent to actual cashmere/light musk fragrance oil whenever I get some.) It's light and sweet but with the added weight of some musk. Having tested quite a lot of them, this is honestly the only Target-brand candle worth buying.

This is a wooden wick candle with a clean, natural scent. It is creamy and tropical but not overwhelmingly so. It moreso gives the vibes of being at a peaceful tropical resort than an actual ocean-scented candle. The notes blend together pretty well and I couldn't particularly distinguish any as being stronger than the other. I personally wish the scent was stronger as it is pretty mild, but I really enjoyed how organic and soothing it smelled.

Oct. 19, 2025, 11:06 p.m.

There are too many great tomato candles for this to make my list, but it does distinguish itself in this category because it is a floral-forward tomato candle. The florals are too screechy for me (definitely not geranium heavy)—can trigger my migraines. The green tomato is an undertone.

Got a votive blindly because I’ve been dying for a good pumpkin spice scent. It is doing its job. I’m enjoying it paired with Lafco’s FdB in particular. But I don’t think this is any better than the countless candles I have been sampling at TJMaxx. As the description suggests, it smells of pumpkin and baking spices. It is not overly sugary, but it does smell a little artificial. You fully remember this is the smell of a pumpkin candle the entire time it is on.

I love the scent but it was rather weak for me :( I fear I was given old stock, as I purchased it from a store I don’t think moves their candle stock much. I would like to experiment with other candles of this category (particularly Diptyque’s take) before returning to this, but if I do, I would probably invest in a 3 wick or purchase directly from Lafco.

Very beautiful candle with a good throw that's not overpowering. The citrus shines over the other notes but is followed up by the palo santo.

Exactly once, when I was a little tipsy, did I smell strawberries when this candle was burning. That one experience was pretty interesting, it was like the weird disjointed floral notes of this candle suddenly came together to make strawberry, akin to a lens focusing an image. Except for that single moment, which might have been partly imagined, I don’t like this candle very much. Much like the dark rum, it feels artificial. It’s floral and herbal, but it reminds me of a cough drop. And not even like a strawberry flavored cough drop. Burns great though!

Sept. 6, 2025, 2:36 p.m.

I really did not like this candle. I get none of the notes besides tobacco, and that alone just makes me remember that candles are kinda a respiratory hazard. It’s a dark, moody candle that I think I could have forgiven had it included some kind of alcohol note. Technically the scent profile doesn’t claim one but come on! It’s called speakeasy!

Sept. 6, 2025, 12:06 a.m.

A year ago, I got a travel tin set of this, Langston, and Speakeasy. Of the three, this emerged my favorite by a long shot. I wish I could give a more specific review, but I actually don’t remember the scent well beyond it being a pleasant, clean scent. This review is more a mental note to consider buying it again next time I want to try this brand again.

Not the scent for me. While I don’t think I am a huge fan of black current as a scent (though I don’t know what it smells like besides this candle), I think it is the rose that ruins the experience for me. It’s very intense. I like rose, but I need it mellowed out by something else. Instead, this candle compliments it with another bold, sweet, floral note. I passed my votive along to my sister, who loved it. I will say, when I walked into her room once when it was half-burned through, I found it more unique and pleasant. Not enough for me to want to try this again, but it made me understand the hype more.

Sept. 5, 2025, 11:45 p.m.

She’s strong!!!! A true, in-your-face white floral. However, I don’t find it obnoxious or headache inducing. It smells quite similar to the actual flowers, which is what separates it from cheaper alternatives. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone to try and change their mind on white florals, but I would recommend it to someone who is already a fan and wants something a tier above the rest. All in all, you get what you ask for with this one.

Sept. 5, 2025, 11:39 p.m.

There’s something artificial about this candle. It doesn’t really smell much like rum to me, I get the plum much more strongly, and it reminds me of plum pudding more than a summer cocktail. But somehow more than that, it smells like chapstick to me? Think of a plum pudding scented chapstick. I think the wax (which performs perfectly, by the way. This is truly my lowest maintenance candle) somehow lends to this effect. When I first bought this candle, I was not impressed. Halfway through burning it, I became a little obsessed. Now I’ve grown cold on it again, but maybe in winter I’ll come back around. At the moment, will not repurchase.

Lovely cozy evening candle, despite the name. I like this scent during late night study sessions. Perhaps I am just a Sherlock Holmes fan at heart, but pipe tobacco and pastries makes me think of long, productive, contemplative nights, not a morning at a cafe. I find different notes of this candle seem to emerge at different times, which likely has something to do with the size of the room and my distance from it. It is the first time I experienced this from a candle, which pleases me. I wish I got more coffee from this! I get tobacco strongly, and pastries *sometimes*, but never coffee.

I liked this one at first! It didn’t quite smell like anything else I could think of. A little green and sorta eucalyptus-y, but for some reason it didn’t really remind me of a plant when it burned. It was like… an alien trying to capture essence of a spa scent without knowledge of earth’s flora. I guess that’s a weird way of saying that it had a chemical vibe to it. Unfortunately, I happened to read a review that described it as smelling like bug spray and this has completely ruined it for me! I don’t know if the scent has just changed now that it’s 2/3rds burned but I can’t smell it without thinking of bug spray!!! agh.

Sept. 5, 2025, 11:26 p.m.

Nutty and slightly sweet with a backbone of airy green trees, the scent itself is beautiful. The performance of the candle, however, is another story. This particular candle is known to be troublesome, and it struggles to keep even a tiny flame unless you keep it foiled and watch it constantly. Keep that in mind before you get it.

Sept. 5, 2025, 10:46 p.m.

This one was sort of disappointing for me. While it performs well, it doesn't have a distinct leather scent - instead it has a distinct earthy sandalwood vibe, not creamy like Santal 33. It's pleasant, but not what I was hoping for.

Sept. 5, 2025, 10:20 p.m.

An absolute classic. Perfectly balanced floral, citrus and spice elements - uplifting without becoming tiresome, energizing without becoming annoying and charming without being boring. Add to that the beautiful glass and this has to be one of my favorite all-time candles.

Sept. 5, 2025, 5:06 p.m.

I regret rating this candle as 'mediocre' when it has such an appealing scent. It leads with a very appealing, blonde wood scent with a sunny, floral note the is uplifting in an understated way - the kind of scent that never gets old. In fact, it appealed to me, cold, in the fancy department store, so much that I paid full price. I was sorely disappointed, waiting and waiting for the flame to fill my little office with that gorgeous aroma - it only came close after switch to a warmer and gave it a full hour with the door closed. Final verdict: It is such a nice scent that I'm sometimes tempted, but alas, even with an internet discount, Byerdo Cotton Poplin is just too weak to buy again.

Sept. 5, 2025, 5:01 p.m.

Unexpectedly delightful. I was not expecting to find a BBW gourmand I could tolerate, much less enjoy, but this has become a favorite for our common room. I would not say I pick up on true smokiness or woodiness or anything that actually resembles a campfire, which is disappointing. Instead, I would just call it a pleasant marshmallow scent that lacks the sickly sweetness of most of its sister candles. All in all, a nice way to satisfy my desire for a marshmallow candle (before I commit to purchasing an Overose)

Sept. 5, 2025, 9:07 a.m.

Infamously weak throw. Could not smell when lit, but performed better once I put it on my wax melt warmer. Now it actually fills my entire (small) bedroom. The performance issues alone mean that I will not rebuy (at least as a votive). The scent itself is pleasant. It does smell accurately of a fig plant. It is not sweet at all and is a very green, fresh scent. So much so that if you didn’t know what a fig smelled like, you’d think this was a grass scent. While I commend the accuracy, I think I personally prefer a slightly sweeter interpretation of fig.

Sept. 5, 2025, 9:03 a.m.

Incredibly complex, earthy and refreshing with great throw, hot or cold. Hunter is fairly well priced compared to high end luxury brands like Diptyque, but their mushroom collection is a bit more expensive than their signature line. Unfortunately most Hunter candles suffer from severe tunneling due to the quality of the wax. But if you’re ok with the slightly higher maintenance in exchange for a great (and unique) scent, this might be one for you.

Sept. 5, 2025, 8:27 a.m.

Super-concentrated rose, like a rose jam vs. true-to-life rose. Super strong, headache-inducing if you aren't into the scent (thankfully I am).

Sept. 5, 2025, 12:48 a.m.

A pretty straightforward sweet amber fragrance with a hint of alcohol backing it up. I found it to be too sweet and one-note for my liking, not as complex as I think it could / should be.

Sept. 5, 2025, 12:44 a.m.

Definitely cozy. Dry warm spices, like they were toasting on the stove, backed by sugary warm ginger. One of my favorite fall candles.

Sept. 5, 2025, 12:39 a.m.

A classic! Warm sugary marshmallow with a hint of smokiness to balance it out. Always a mood-booster, not too sweet or powdery.

Sept. 5, 2025, 12:35 a.m.

Having grown up with a honeysuckle bush in my front yard, I can vouch for the authenticity. It's a bit sweeter than a natural honeysuckle but matches the headiness and vibe that I could hope for from a honeysuckle candle. Performance and strength are typical B&BW - pools magnificently and projects very well. I don't enjoy many B&BW florals, but this one is a keeper.

Sept. 5, 2025, 12:33 a.m.

As a chestnut lover, I was excited to try this one. Sadly I didn’t get any chestnut and all I could smell was coconut and hints of cardamom. It was rather sooty as well.

Sept. 4, 2025, 11:46 p.m.

This fragrance is pleasant. The cold scent is sweeter than its scent when burning. The sweetness is floral rather than syrupy, and it’s cut by its freshness. It reminds me of what I think feminine shower gel would smell like.

This candle is both sweet and masculine, perfect for a boy's room.

This candle replicates holiday joy.

Feb. 18, 2025, 12:41 p.m.

The cold scent smells like a sweet caramel, which carries into the burn. There is a very subtle but deep vanilla in the background that works well during this time of year in a bedroom or a study. A safe blind buy if you are into vanilla scents!
